REQUIRED CLEARANCES

 

All clergy that have interaction with children must have the following current clearances.

All required clearances may be obtained by accessing the following site:

Pennsylvania Criminal History Check – may be completed online.

This service is free for volunteers; $22 for all other

 

Pennsylvania Child Abuse clearance

The current cost is $13.00 check or money order

FBI Criminal History Report aka fingerprinting

  1. is submitted online; onsite fingerprinting is required at an assigned location. You will make a payment at the location when you are fingerprinted. It will require a service code in order to register. The state code for Employees with Contact with Minor Children is 1KG756

Payment can be through debit card or money order.

 

 

Mandated Reporter Requirements

There are two primary ways to obtain the training:

  1. Online @ www.reportabusepa.pitt.edu

Clergy, Church Employees, and Volunteers may access the free training online through the University of Pittsburgh, Department of Social Work at the link above. Individuals may take the training on their own time.

 

  1. Attend an Approved DHS Mandatory Reporter Training In-Person

Those wishing to attend training in person may locate one at the above link, or an organization may hire an approved trainer to lead the course for the group. A Certificate of Completion should be obtained upon finishing the course.

 

Copies of ALL pastor certificates should be sent to the presbytery office for its files.

All new employees must obtain these clearances within 90 days of hire; failure to obtain any of these clearances requires forfeiture of employment. On an ongoing basis, clearances must be renewed within 5 years of the most recent clearance.
